And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul McHeartney!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volkov looks to land a left hand but McHeartney moved out of range nicely.

McHeartney clinches up against the ropes.

Volkov misses with a jab to the body

and McHeartney counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

McHeartney has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Volkov uses from the top position.
Volkov wants to get up but he can't break McHeartney's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
McHeartney is looking to sweep but instead, Volkov has passed into half guard.

McHeartney actively working from the bottom here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McHeartney slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
McHeartney controls Volkov momentarily but Volkov frees himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Volkov wants to control from the top but McHeartney keeps moving.
Volkov wanted to stand there but McHeartney had control of the position.
Volkov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McHeartney on the ground.

McHeartney is trying to control the position but Volkov postures up.

Volkov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

McHeartney not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

McHeartney has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Volkov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McHeartney is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Volkov rolls with it to try and escape but McHeartney cranks on the arm and Volkov is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
