Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Clifford Walsh (ranked 5790 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hunter Farnan (ranked 5208 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hunter Farnan!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walsh tries to clinch but Farnan moves out of range.
A head kick misses from Farnan.

Walsh dives in and scores a takedown into Farnan's guard.

Farnan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Walsh trying to stand up but can't free himself from Farnan's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Farnan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Walsh is controlling him.
Walsh has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Walsh slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Walsh has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Walsh is stalling in the full guard.

Farnan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Walsh gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Walsh works over Farnan with some ground and pound from guard.
Walsh knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Farnan on the ground.
Walsh controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Walsh's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Walsh is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Farnan throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Walsh manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Farnan on his heels. He'll look to pass Farnan's guard now, I'm sure.

Walsh decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Walsh shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Farnan napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Walsh decides to take the fight back to the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Farnan throws a right and a left that Walsh avoids nicely.
Walsh attempts a counter takedown but Farnan avoids it well and moves away.

Walsh changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Farnan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Walsh decides to stand back up. Walsh steps back and let's Farnan get back to his feet.

Farnan has closed the distance and engaged Walsh in a clinch.
Farnan is looking to break free of the clinch but Walsh has double underhooks.
Walsh is trying to break the clinch but Farnan is controlling him.

Farnan lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Farnan is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Walsh has managed to free his arm - good work.
Walsh tries to get to full guard but Farnan has control of the leg.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Farnan throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Walsh is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Farnan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Farnan's back!
A bit of a pause in the action here. Walsh controlling the positon.

Walsh is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Farnan defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Farnan tries to escape but Walsh has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Farnan is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Farnan tries to escape but Walsh has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Walsh is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Walsh is pulling down on Farnan's head. It's preventing any offense from Farnan, at least for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Farnan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Walsh pushes Farnan off but Farnan dives into side control.
Walsh is trying to get back to his feet.

Walsh throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Clifford Walsh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Farnan wants to control but Walsh is keeping him busy.
Walsh is trying to control Farnan's posture but Farnan avoids it.

Farnan lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Farnan cracks Walsh with a big right hand but Walsh just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Farnan scores with a couple of short elbows.
Farnan has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Farnan wants to control the pace but Walsh is squirming around nicely.
Farnan avoids the attempt from Walsh to control.

Farnan connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Farnan has Walsh up against the cage in a clinch.

Farnan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Farnan jabs at Walsh's body.

Farnan is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Walsh is in big trouble! Farnan is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Walsh. Poor guy.
