Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andrew West!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rex Bearden!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Joseph Jones and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bearden closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
You can see the frustration on West's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
West is looking for a sweep.
West wants to control but Bearden postures up.
Bearden cracks West with a big elbow.
West is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Bearden's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Bearden lands with a punch from half guard.

Bearden is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so West is just riding it out for now. Bearden eventually gives up the hold.
West is trying to control but can't.
Bearden prevents West from improving his position.

Bearden is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. West doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bearden.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bearden wants to lay and pray for a moment but West keeps working.
West looks like he's trying to stand up.
Bearden looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Bearden is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Bearden trying to control the action but West is working from the bottom.

Bearden is looking for a kimura but West is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bearden to get the leverage.
West tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
West flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
West landing small, sideways elbows.
Bearden is keen to just control but West is a slippery customer.
West is looking to improve his position.

West is defending against the submission attempts here by Bearden.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
West with a lazy takedown attempt

and Bearden counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for West!
Bearden connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
West is looking to get to half guard.
West wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
West is breathing heavily.
West manages to reverse the position and now he's in Bearden's guard. Nice work there by West.
Bearden manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bearden stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Bearden gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and West counters with a shoot takedown. Bearden fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bearden is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! West has his hands clasped together but Bearden extends an breaks West's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Bearden.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rex Bearden!
