Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dennis Hays!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Keven Spacey!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Hays forces Spacey back against the cage and clinches.
Hays misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Hays is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Spacey has clasped his hands together around Hays's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Spacey decides to stand back up.
Hays shoots for a double leg takedown but Spacey sprawls well. He's pushed Hays's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hays looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Hays throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Spacey's waist but Spacey gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hays off to one side.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hays changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Spacey tries to avoid it but Hays manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Spacey to the ground. Spacey escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Spacey is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Hays shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Spacey as he avoids it easily.
Hays dives in and grabs Spacey's left leg, looking for a takedown. Spacey pushes down on Hays's head and hops out.
Hays wants to clinch.
Spacey drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Hays defends it well.

Hays doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Spacey counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Hays is looking to stand back up but Spacey counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Hays.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spacey wants to stand but Hays has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Hays looks like he's trying to stand up.

Hays has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Spacey escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Spacey!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Spacey stands up and we're back to a striking position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Hays.
Spacey changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Spacey leaves Hays with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Hays misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hays closes this distance looking for a takedown but Spacey circles away.
Hays closes the distance and clinches up with Spacey, looking for a takedown. Hays pushes Spacey against the cage but Spacey circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
And Spacey tries to counter it with a takedown but Hays pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hays shoots in for a takedown but Spacey shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Spacey drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Hays defends it well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Spacey staying out of range there.
Hays is looking to clinch.
Dennis Hays seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hays looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Spacey tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Hays shoots for a takedown but Spacey saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Spacey has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

and Spacey counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Spacey.
Hays is wriggling around but Spacey manages to pass to half guard.

Spacey wants to stand up but Hays is controlling the position.

Spacey stands up and beckons Hays to join him on the feet.

Keven Spacey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Spacey can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hays drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hays jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Spacey wriggles free and stands up.
Hays shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dennis Hays. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hays fails with the takedown.
Hays shoots in and drives through. Spacey sprawls well.
Spacey drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Hays defends it well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

and Spacey counters with a shoot takedown. Hays fights it but they end up in guard.
Hays is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Hays goes for a double leg but Spacey avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Spacey continues to drive forward.
