Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Trippa (ranked 5775 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Shields (ranked 8166 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Shields misses the jab.
Trippa misses with a hook. Shields ducked under it nicely.
Shields unleashes a big counter combination but Trippa bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Trippa pivots, looking for a leg kick but Shields is out of range and Trippa settles back down.

Shields has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Shields throws a nice looking combination but Trippa bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Trippa swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Trippa walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Shields pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Trippa back to the cage. Shields follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Shields scores with a crisp jab that stopped Trippa in his tracks.
Trippa takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

and Shields counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Shields throws a looping overhand right but Trippa ducks down to avoid it.
Trippa is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Shields.
Trippa has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Touch Of Death Combat Academy in the buildup to the fight.
Trippa is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Shields.
Shields is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Shields lands a glancing blow to the side of Trippa's head.

Trippa is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Shields has his hands clasped together but Trippa extends and breaks Shields's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Trippa.
