Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathaniel Compton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, War Steiner!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steiner doesn't manage to clinch there - Compton circles away.

Steiner shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Compton manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Steiner is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Compton is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Steiner is aware though and is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steiner wanted to stand there but Compton had control of the position.

Steiner gets to his feet - Compton follows without any prompting.

Steiner wants to clinch but Compton slips to the side

and Compton counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Compton seems to be working for a kimura but Steiner defends the submission attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Steiner is looking for a sweep. Compton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Compton perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Steiner wants to control but Compton is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Compton seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Compton moves into the clinch.

Compton breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Steiner throws a right hand that Compton ducks under and follows up with a left that Compton also avoids with ease.

Steiner scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Steiner in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Steiner misses with the ground and pound.

Compton is not content to let Steiner control the position.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.

Steiner decides to stand back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Compton gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Steiner is breathing heavily.
Steiner scoring with some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Nathaniel Compton will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Compton is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Compton breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Steiner scores with a nice body kick.
Steiner throws a head kick that misses.
A thudding body kick lands there by Steiner!

Steiner closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Steiner wants to take a breather but Compton is having none of it.
Steiner takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Compton keeps control of the position for the meantime.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Compton pulls Steiner in close to his closed guard and prevents Steiner from doing any damage or advancing position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Steiner tries to free his leg and advance position but Compton is retaining full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Steiner pushes Compton up against the cage in a clinch.

Steiner is trying to trip Compton. He has hold of a leg but Compton is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Steiner persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Compton has Steiner pulled in close to control his posture.
Steiner trying to control the position from guard on top but Compton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Steiner throws a big right hand that misses.
Compton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Steiner got a little sloppy there for a moment and Compton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Steiner has managed to get both his arms back between Compton's legs - danger averted.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Compton is adopting a defensive guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Compton closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Steiner wants to get back to his feet but Compton is dominant here and he's now got Steiner's back!

Compton has the hooks in. Steiner is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Compton goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Steiner escapes and is now in half guard on top.

And that's the end of the fight!
War Steiner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Compton has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
