Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Matt Johnson (ranked 23956 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matty Ice (ranked 5751 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matty Ice!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ice tries to close the distance and clinch but Johnson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Johnson enables Ice to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Johnson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ice works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Johnson wants to get back to his feet.

Ice takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Johnson tries to kick Ice off but Ice keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ice feints and as Johnson raises his hands in defense, Ice changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Johnson scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Ice is trying to trip Johnson. He has hold of a leg but Johnson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ice persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Johnson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Johnson gets caught napping as Ice dives in and scores a takedown. Johnson manages to retain guard.
Ice wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.
Johnson is looking to stand up but Ice isn't so interested in that idea.

Ice closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Still in half guard, Ice seems content to control.

Ice stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ice shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Johnson's guard.
Johnson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ice slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Ice stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Johnson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Johnson controls Ice momentarily but Ice frees himself.
Matty Ice has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ice is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Let's hope that Ice has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Ice postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Ice gets to his feet - Johnson follows without any prompting.

Ice closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Ice decides to stand back up. Ice steps back and let's Johnson get back to his feet.

Johnson manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Ice keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Johnson is pushing Ice up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Johnson has Ice pressed against the cage, preventing Ice from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Ice is trying to break free.

Johnson tries to pull guard but Ice holds him up against the cage and eventually Johnson drops back down to his feet.

Ice has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Johnson is trying to keep an underhook but Ice manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Ice closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Johnson to the mat! Johnson manages to get full guard.

Johnson throws a counter high kick but Ice was just alert enough to avoid it.

Ice fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Matty Ice comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ice has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
