Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Pointek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Monroe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pointek comes to the cage accompanied by Sevendust - Enemy. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pointek takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Monroe tries to clinch but Pointek is having none of it.
Monroe tries to bum rush Pointek with a series of wild strikes but Pointek uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Pointek moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Monroe had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Pointek is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Monroe Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Pointek's back instead.

Pointek is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Monroe can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Pointek has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Monroe! Can he survive? No! He's out! Pointek gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
