Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wayde West (ranked 5304 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dokonjonosuke Ueda (ranked 24745 p4p, 0 weight class). West comes to the cage accompanied by Sober. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wayde West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dokonjonosuke Ueda!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
West scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.


It looks like Dokonjonosuke Ueda has been cut.
Ueda wants to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ueda looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

West shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. West showed some decent athleticism there.
Ueda tries to push off, looking to stand up, but West manages to move to mount!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
West controlling his opponent.

Ueda tries to reverse the position but West maintains control.
Ueda tries to hold on but West postures up.
Ueda sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
West wants to pass to mount but Ueda is defending the position.
West not doing much here.
Ueda wants to control but West is keeping busy.
Ueda is trying to control but West passes into side control!

West tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

West stands up and beckons Ueda to his feet.
West throws a head kick that Ueda semi-blocks.

West is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ueda's half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ueda is looking to control West's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ueda avoid being mounted?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ueda wants to sweep but West has passed to side control!

Ueda is trying to escape the position but West is controlling the position.

West stands up.

West clinches up with Ueda and pushes him back against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

West's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A punch combination from West misses.
Ueda is looking for the big counter here.
West tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ueda sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten West somewhat.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ueda shoots in looking for a takedown but West manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ueda's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ueda fails with the takedown

and West counters by moving into the clinch.
Ueda wants a takedown but no success here.

West pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
West digs a good body shot into Ueda's ribs.

West shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ueda is trying to defend but West finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Ueda is looking to get back to is feet but West passes into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

West is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ueda is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Ueda looks to move to half guard but instead West has passed into mount! Damn!

Ueda is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

West is landing with some decent strikes but Ueda is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

West stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

West keeps the fight on the outside.

West forces Ueda back against the cage and clinches.
Ueda tries to pull guard but West won't allow it.
Wayde West has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dokonjonosuke Ueda.
Ueda tries to stall but West uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

West gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, West seems content to control.

West postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ueda to stand up.
Ueda fails with a takedown attempt.
West lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ueda wants to clinch up but West keeps it at a distance.

Ueda gets caught flat footed, as West shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Ueda tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Ueda defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from West.
Ueda is looking to improve his position but West isn't that keen on the idea.
West misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Ueda tries to lock up and control but West gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
West takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



West gets the takedown into side control.
Ueda tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

West stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
West shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ueda pinned against the cage. Ueda gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Wayde West is winning the standup battle so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ueda moves to clinch but West breaks away
and West counters with a good low kick that Ueda was not able to check.

West moves into the clinch successfully.
West connects with a knee to the head.
West slowing the pace effectively.

Ueda has a couple of punches blocked by West.
Ueda fails to pull the fight into his guard.

West breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

West gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Ueda displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from West.
And Ueda tries to counter it with a takedown but West pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Ueda jumps guard but West turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Ueda tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. West just stands there and leans against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Ueda's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Ueda takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
West engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Wayde West is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Ueda is working an open guard so West takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Ueda throws a lazy body kick

and West counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
West not doing much here.
Ueda slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
West preventing the sweep.

And that's the end of the fight!
Wayde West showed his dominance in that final round.
Well West has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Wayde West decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
