Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kerry Donaldson (ranked 5819 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicolas Torres (ranked 5580 p4p, 0 weight class). Nicolas Torres is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kerry Donaldson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nicolas Torres!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torres throws a sloppy head kick and Donaldson moves out of range easily.

Donaldson shoots in and bounces Torres off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Torres wants to stand and escape but Donaldson is having none of it.
Donaldson is looking to work some ground and pound but Torres has wrist control.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Torres manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Torres breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Torres throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Donaldson.


It looks like Kerry Donaldson has been cut.
Nicolas Torres is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Torres swings for the body but Donaldson moves out of range.
Torres misses with a two punch combination.
Donaldson is looking for a counter combo.

Torres drives through and clinches with Donaldson against the cage.

Torres breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Torres tries to close the distance and clinch up but Donaldson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Torres throws the kick towards the body but Donaldson avoids it.
Donaldson appears to be looking for a big counter.
The fight stays on the outside here - Torres looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Torres keeps Donaldson at a distance using the push kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Torres, as that shot connected.

Torres fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Donaldson swats away the attempt to clinch by Torres.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Torres.
Donaldson tries to counter with a takedown but Torres is quick to defend against it.
Torres throws a head kick that misses.

Torres lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Donaldson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Both fighters circling a little - Torres finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Donaldson throws a punch but it's blocked by Torres.
Donaldson is trying to stall.
Donaldson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Donaldson's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Torres breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Torres moves into range and clinches up with Donaldson.
A left hand lands to the body for Torres.
Donaldson tries to pull guard but Torres holds him up against the cage and eventually Donaldson drops back down to his feet.

Torres jumps into guard, dragging Donaldson to the mat.
Torres is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Donaldson throwing strikes from guard but Torres blocks nicely.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Torres wants to get back to his feet but Donaldson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Donaldson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Donaldson throws an elbow that misses. Torres uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Donaldson's guard. Nice move by Torres!

Torres is stalling in the full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Donaldson is on top in guard.

Donaldson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Torres is proving hard to escape from.
Torres has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Donaldson throws a strike but Torres rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Donaldson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Torres wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Torres kicks Donaldson off and gets back to his feet.
Donaldson walks into a left hand.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Torres tries to bum rush Donaldson with a series of wild strikes but Donaldson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Torres keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nicolas Torres showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Torres.
Torres fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Donaldson seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Donaldson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Torres tries to kick Donaldson off but Donaldson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Donaldson looks to land a strike but Torres avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Torres has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Donaldson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Torres pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Torres takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Torres throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Torres throws the kick towards the body but Donaldson avoids it.

Donaldson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Torres circles away.

Torres gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Donaldson jumps guard but Torres stands there with Donaldson around his waist. Donaldson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Donaldson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Torres defends well and Donaldson ends up having to push Torres into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Torres stuffs the takedown attempt from Donaldson. Donaldson gets slowly back to his feet.

Torres keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Torres delivers a nice body kick.
Donaldson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Torres connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Donaldson scrambles back to his feet.

Donaldson gets tackled into the cage by Torres. Torres maintains the clinch.
Donaldson is trying to pull guard but Torres turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Torres lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Donaldson or not.

Torres escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Crunch! Torres slams his shin into Donaldson's torso.

Donaldson takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Torres lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Torres lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Donaldson shoots in for a takedown but Torres shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Torres is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Donaldson's half guard.
Donaldson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Torres seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Kerry Donaldson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Nicolas Torres is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Torres decides to return to a standing position.

Nicolas Torres comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Torres has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
