Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Orval James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bob Marlety!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marlety changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Marlety with the ground and pound but James regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Marlety trying to control from half guard but James is working away.
James lands a couple of sideways elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James wants to control the action here but instead Marlety manages to pass to full mount!
James tries to lock up and control but Marlety gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Marlety wants to control the action but instead James gets a body lock and reverses into Marlety's guard! Nice work!
Marlety wants to sweep but no luck.
James is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
James has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Marlety working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. James doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. James manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

James's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells James's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
James would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

James is looking to regain half guard here but Marlety keeps moving and retains side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
James tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Marlety wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Marlety creates some space and throws a big elbow, but James sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Marlety wants to control for a moment but James uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A close round but Bob Marlety will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Marlety throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
James throws a strike from the bottom but Marlety uses the opportunity to take his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marlety throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

Marlety is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

James throws a strike but Marlety rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

James keeps control of the position for the meantime.
James really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Marlety is keen to just control but James is a slippery customer.

Marlety is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Marlety wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position.

Marlety gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Marlety doesn't manage to clinch there - James circles away.
As Marlety looks to move away, James throws a big counter combo but Marlety just gets out of the way.

Marlety looking to score a takedown here. James is defending well but Marlety drives through and ends up in James's guard.
James wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bob Marlety showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


James shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Marlety as he avoids it easily.
James avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Marlety throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. James was covering up waiting for the punch and Marlety finishes the takedown easily into guard.
James is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Marlety throws a lazy head kick
and James counters with a good low kick that Marlety was not able to check.

James pushes Marlety up against the cage in a clinch.

James gets through Marlety's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
James is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Marlety pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Marlety wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
James unloads a knee to the mid-section.
James wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Orval James. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James drops down looking for an ankle pick but Marlety pulls his leg out and moves away.

James is not content to let Marlety control the position.
James wants to improve his position but Marlety is controlling well.

Orval James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bob Marlety is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Marlety seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but James does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Bob Marlety comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Marlety winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
