Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Carlos Downs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Edwin Hamilton!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shirou Masuda and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Downs shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Downs showed some decent athleticism there.
Hamilton is positioning himself well to prevent Downs advancing to mount.
Downs prevents Hamilton from improving his position.
Downs sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Hamilton defending well though.
Hamilton wants to improve his position but Downs is controlling well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Still in half guard, Downs seems content to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hamilton makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Hamilton drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hamilton lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Downs down.
Hamilton connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Downs some visible discomfort.
Downs is trying to get back to half guard.

You can see the frustration on Downs's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Downs is looking for a sweep.
Downs looking for a sweep but Hamilton has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Downs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hamilton is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Downs is surviving well by controlling Hamilton's body position as best he can.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Downs keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hamilton connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Downs might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Downs is trying to stand.

Hamilton looking to secure an arm triangle but Downs defends it well.
Downs wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Downs regains half guard.

Hamilton gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Downs swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Hamilton manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Downs on his heels. He'll look to pass Downs's guard now, I'm sure.

Downs is working an open guard so Hamilton takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Hamilton darts in and clinches Downs up against the cage.
Downs can't break the clinch.

Downs's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hamilton closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hamilton's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
A frustrated look appears on Downs's face as he tries to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Downs wants to break the clinch but can't.

Hamilton is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Downs can't fight it off and eventually Hamilton manages to take the fight to the floor. Downs looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hamilton lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Hamilton keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Downs's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Downs is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hamilton is aware though and is defending well.

Hamilton gets to his feet - Downs follows without any prompting.

Hamilton displaying some good clinch control by pressing Downs up against the cage.
Downs wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hamilton has him pressed against the cage.

Hamilton breaks the clinch.

Hamilton shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hamilton showed some decent athleticism there.
Downs wants to control but Hamilton is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Downs is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hamilton pulls his head out easily.
Downs wants to get back to full guard but Hamilton has mounted him!
Hamilton connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Downs is looking to get to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hamilton with a couple of short strikes.

Hamilton has control of Downs's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Downs regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Hamilton content just to control the position here.

Hamilton's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Hamilton fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Downs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hamilton on the ground.
Hamilton postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Downs looks a forlorn figure.


Downs is rocked!
Hamilton lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Oh Downs is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hamilton lands a big shot to the head and Downs winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Edwin Hamilton!
