Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dongsu Kim (ranked 2496 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francisco Marquez (ranked 3170 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Francisco Marquez enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dongsu Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Francisco Marquez!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Winston Alpacca and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kim closes the distance and clinches.
Kim is trying to drag Marquez to the mat but Marquez just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kim goes for a takedown in the clinch but Marquez prevents it.

Kim pulls Marquez into guard.

Kim looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Marquez won't allow Kim to sweep him here.
Marquez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kim works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kim working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Marquez has passed into half guard!
Kim is refusing to be controlled, as Marquez sits in half guard.

Marquez tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Kim.
Kim tries to roll over but Marquez keeps him under control.
Marquez wants to control but Kim is keeping him busy.
Marquez blocks the strikes from Kim.
Kim is staying active underneath Marquez, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Kim wants to control but Marquez is keeping busy.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Marquez fails with an attempt to clinch.
Marquez lands with a nice combination. Kim backs away looking to recover.
Marquez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kim.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dongsu Kim. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kim avoids the head kick by Marquez.
Kim shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Marquez but Marquez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Marquez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Marquez.
Nice takedown defense from Marquez. No joy for Kim on that attempt.
Kim drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Marquez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kim sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Marquez somewhat.

Marquez doesn't manage to clinch there - Kim circles away.
Marquez lunges at Kim with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kim's hand.
Marquez tries to clinch up but Kim circles away and keeps his distance.
Marquez has his takedown stuffed

and Kim counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Kim stops Marquez from getting back to his feet.
Marquez moves into full guard.
Kim won't allow Marquez to sweep him here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kim is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Marquez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kim avoids it really well and circles away.
Kim throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Marquez moves in looking to clinch but Kim pushes him off.
Kim fails with the takedown.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Marquez pushes Kim up against the cage in a clinch.
Marquez tries to pull guard but Kim forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Francisco Marquez dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Marquez scores with a jab to the jaw.
Marquez is looking to chop away at Kim's legs.
Marquez slaps away a takedown attempt from Kim, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Dongsu Kim is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kim on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Marquez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nice sprawl there from Marquez as Kim shoots in.
Marquez goes for a double leg but Kim avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kim continues to drive forward.
Kim seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kim swats away the attempt to clinch by Marquez.
Kim tries to counter by clinching up but Marquez breaks away and moves out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Marquez. No joy for Kim on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dongsu Kim. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kim closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Marquez quickly recovers to half guard.

Kim trying to mount his opponent but Marquez defends it.
Marquez wants to improve his position but Kim is controlling well.
Marquez missing with punches from the bottom.
Kim knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Marquez on the ground.

Kim is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Marquez has managed to free his arm - good work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kim passes to full mount!
Marquez is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Kim sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Marquez tries to hold on but Kim pushes him away.
Kim misses with a head shot.
Kim can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Marquez is looking to escape.

Kim avoids the attempt from Marquez to control.

Kim is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Marquez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Marquez wants to control but Kim is having none of it.
Dongsu Kim overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Marquez is wriggling around trying to escape.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Marquez tries to hold on but Kim pushes him away.
Kim thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Kim lands with some strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marquez is looking to get to half guard.

Marquez defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Kim.
Marquez blocking the ground and pound.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Marquez is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dongsu Kim dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


A left and a right from Marquez both land. Nice combination.
Marquez fails with an attempt to clinch.
As Marquez looks to move away, Kim throws a big counter combo but Marquez just gets out of the way.

Kim closes the distance and clinches.
Kim with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Kim is working for takedown but Marquez is calmly controlling the position for now.
Marquez can't break the clinch.
Marquez wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kim has him pressed against the cage.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Kim as Marquez tries to tie him up.
Marquez on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Marquez pulls Kim into guard.
Kim might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Marquez looking to control.

Marquez looking for a guillotine here but Kim defends easily.

Marquez can't keep his opponent in guard - Kim advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Marquez is looking to improve his position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Marquez wants to control but Kim is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Kim darts in and clinches Marquez up against the cage.
Kim looking for a takedown.
Marquez looking to stall.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Marquez wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Marquez successfully pulls guard.
Marquez has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Kim has passed into side control.
Kim prevents Marquez from escaping the position.
Marquez is trying to control Kim's posture but Kim avoids it.
Marquez is not content to let Kim control the position.
Kim tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kim trying to control the action but Marquez is working from the bottom.

Kim wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Marquez, who protects the arm well.
Marquez is trying to control Kim's posture but Kim avoids it.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dongsu Kim.
I think Kim has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
