Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Vinicius (ranked 5447 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuta Kubo (ranked 4086 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kubo moves into the clinch successfully.
Vinicius is trying to pull guard but Kubo turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Kubo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Vinicius uses from the top position.
Vinicius is looking to stand up but Kubo won't let him.

Kubo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Vinicius was covering up waiting for the punch and Kubo finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Vinicius utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kubo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vinicius. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kubo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Vinicius has his foot on Kubo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kubo works his way back into a safe position though.

Kubo wants to get up but he can't break Vinicius's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Kubo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Let's hope that Kubo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Vinicius manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kubo manages to get himself to full guard.

Kubo leaves Vinicius with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Vinicius slaps away a takedown attempt from Kubo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kubo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vinicius circles away.

Kubo closes the distance and pushes Vinicius back into the cage.

Kubo is trying to pull guard but Vinicius has him pressed against the cage.
Vinicius jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kubo walks away with a smile on his face. Vinicius gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Vinicius shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kubo as he jumps to the side.

Kubo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Vinicius is controlling him.

Vinicius decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kubo to his feet.

Vinicius will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
