The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut there from Alves.
Alves rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hatzitropoulos moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Alves lands with a hook. Hatzitropoulos tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Alves missing with a left hand there. Hatzitropoulos was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Alves throws a lazy right hand but Hatzitropoulos sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Alves misses with a looping right.
Alves swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Hatzitropoulos closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Alves to the mat! Alves manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hatzitropoulos stops Alves from standing up.
Alves keeping moving, preventing Hatzitropoulos from controlling successfully.
Hatzitropoulos controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Alves is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hatzitropoulos asserts his dominance and retains side control.
