Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dexter Varela (ranked 4280 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francisco Marquez (ranked 6525 p4p, 0 weight class). Dexter Varela is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Francisco Marquez!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marquez fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A little feinted left hand from Varela on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Marquez clinches.
Varela tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Marquez drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Marquez has Varela pressed against the cage.
Marquez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee is keeping an eye on Marquez - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Marquez tries for a takedown but Varela manages to get underhooks.
Dexter Varela has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Francisco Marquez.

It looks like Francisco Marquez has been cut.

Marquez tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Varela smiles and moves away.

Marquez stops a takedown attempt from Varela .
Marquez trying to control the position but instead, Varela has worked for underhooks and has pushed Marquez into the cage.

Marquez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Varela cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Horrible takedown attempt by Varela or perhaps it was just good defense by Marquez, which made it look bad.
Marquez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Varela avoids it really well and circles away.

Marquez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Varela is looking for a counter combo.
Varela feints with a jab and clips Marquez right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Marquez is sent crashing into the canvas and Varela leaps in for the kill! Marquez tries to get to his feet but Varela is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Marquez is in need of a savior and steps in!
