Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzalez tries to clinch but Kuparinen moves out of range.

Gonzalez takes the fight into the clinch.

Gonzalez will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Kuparinen up against the cage.

Gonzalez is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kuparinen is surviving well by controlling Gonzalez's body position as best he can.

Kuparinen closes the distance but Gonzalez moves to the side
enabling Gonzalez to counter with a crisp jab.
Gonzalez doesn't manage to clinch there - Kuparinen circles away.
Gonzalez throws a right hand that Kuparinen ducks under and follows up with a left that Kuparinen also avoids with ease.

and Gonzalez counters with a shoot takedown. Kuparinen fights it but they end up in guard.
Kuparinen is wriggling around but Gonzalez manages to pass to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gonzalez tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Kuparinen.
Kuparinen flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Kuparinen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kuparinen gets full guard.
Kuparinen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gonzalez manages to get himself to full guard.
Gonzalez wants to get back to his feet but Kuparinen is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Kuparinen passes Gonzalez's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Gonzalez trying to hold on to Kuparinen's head to control him but Kuparinen postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Gonzalez manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Gonzalez has managed to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kuparinen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gonzalez keeps working.

That has opened up Jami Kuparinen's cut even more.

Gonzalez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gonzalez seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Gonzalez stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Gonzalez shoots in but no luck this time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kuparinen circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kuparinen takes a kick to the side of the head.

Gonzalez drives through and clinches with Kuparinen against the cage.

Gonzalez has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Kuparinen regains guard immediately.

Kuparinen lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gonzalez!

Kuparinen drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Gonzalez pushes Kuparinen off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Gonzalez counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Kuparinen wants to break free but Gonzalez has control.
Kuparinen keeps control of Gonzalez as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Gonzalez jumps guard but Kuparinen stands there with Gonzalez around his waist. Gonzalez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Kuparinen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gonzalez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Kuparinen is tightening it up a little... Gonzalez has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Gonzalez reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Gonzalez taps out! nice BJJ there by Kuparinen!
