Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Olvi Kurko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexander has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. James Alexander has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Alexander!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Kurko or perhaps it was just good defense by Alexander which made him look bad.
Kurko slips a straight right by Alexander.
Kurko on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Alexander just misses with a punch to the body.
Alexander tries to clinch but Kurko is having none of it.
Alexander lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kurko at a distance.

Kurko tries for a takedown but Alexander sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Kurko shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alexander as he avoids it easily.
Kurko is breathing heavily.

Alexander fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kurko, pushing him back against the cage.

Alexander breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Kurko shoots in for a takedown but Alexander shows good takedown defense.
Kurko circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kurko shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Alexander clinches with his opponent.
Kurko prevents Alexander from breaking the clinch.
Alexander pushes Kurko back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
A short body shot lands from Alexander as the two fighters clinch.

Alexander breaks the clinch.

Kurko shoots in for a double leg but Alexander sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
James Alexander is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Alexander lands a body shot.

Alexander misses with a few strikes there.
Alexander scores with a one two! Kurko had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Alexander scores with a nice right hand.
A left and a right from Alexander both land. Nice combination.
Kurko tries for a takedown but Alexander sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Alexander tries to clinch there but Kurko circles away.
Kurko looks for a takedown but Alexander sprawls well.

Kurko walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Kurko closes this distance looking for a takedown but Alexander circles away.
Kurko avoids the head kick by Alexander.
Kurko shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Alexander as he jumps to the side.

Alexander moves into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Alexander dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kurko shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Alexander but Alexander pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Alexander jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
James Alexander is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Alexander stuns Kurko with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Alexander fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kurko scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kurko is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Alexander looks calm but he's in trouble here. Kurko gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Alexander is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Kurko lets go of the hold and Alexander can pop his arm back in it's socket.
