Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Brooks (ranked 8616 p4p, 0 weight class) and Collin Minus (ranked 3464 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Carlos Brooks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Collin Minus!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Minus stuffs the takedown attempt from Brooks. Brooks gets slowly back to his feet.

Minus clinches up against the cage.
Brooks looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Brooks is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Minus is defending well.
Brooks jumps guard but Minus stands there with Brooks around his waist. Brooks gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Brooks. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Minus pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brooks is looking to work some ground and pound but Minus has wrist control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Minus wants to sweep but no luck.
Minus wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Minus's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Minus tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Minus pulls Brooks in close to prevent any damage.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Minus keeping moving, preventing Brooks from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Brooks moves into the clinch.
Minus wants to break free but Brooks has control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Brooks manages to pull guard.
Minus trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Minus is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Minus wants to control from the top but Brooks keeps moving.
Minus engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Minus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brooks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Brooks wants to stand and escape but Minus is having none of it.
Minus must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Minus seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Brooks is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Minus is controlling him.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Minus gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Brooks misses with a hook. Minus ducked under it nicely.
Minus tries to counter with a clinch but Brooks shakes him off and moves away.
Minus fails with the takedown.
Minus tries a low kick but Brooks avoids it.
Brooks wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Minus pushes Brooks up against the cage in a clinch.
Brooks is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Brooks tries to score a body lock takedown but Minus shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Brooks gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Minus.
Brooks wants to break the clinch but can't.
Brooks wants a takedown but no success here.
Brooks is trying to pull guard but Minus has him pressed against the cage.
Brooks tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Minus just stands there and leans against the cage.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Minus takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Brooks lands a knee to the head.

Minus closes the distance and clinches.
A right handed body shot lands from Minus.
Minus dodges an elbow strike from Brooks.
Minus tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Brooks just stands there and leans against the cage.

Minus gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Brooks regains guard.
Brooks is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Minus dives into side control.

Brooks being controlled for a moment.
Minus tries to move into full mount but can't pass Brooks's legs.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brooks parries the strikes from Minus easily there. Minus is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Brooks to escape.

Minus wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Brooks, who protects the arm well.
Minus wants to stand but Brooks has his arm trapped.
Minus has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Minus in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Brooks is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Minus off and has taken his back!

Minus trying to control the action but Brooks just sinks the hooks in.
Collin Minus has got the better of the ground game so far.
Minus rolls, trying to escape but Brooks keeps control of the position.
Minus is trying to stand back up.

Minus covering up well under a barage of strikes.
Minus wants to get back to his feet.
Minus trying to control the action but Brooks just sinks the hooks in.
Minus might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Brooks haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Brooks looking for the choke from the back.
Minus looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Brooks tries to get the hooks in deep but Minus pushed the leg off.

Brooks wants to control but Minus manages to buck him off and is now in Brooks's guard! Nice work there by Minus!

Minus avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Brooks not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Minus controlling from the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Carlos Brooks will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



The fight moves into the clinch position.
Minus is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Brooks is defending well.
Minus fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Minus is pressed up against the cage. Brooks has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Minus down to the mat. Minus avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Minus lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Minus.
No luck for Minus with that takedown attempt.
Carlos Brooks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Collin Minus.

Brooks wants to sweep but no luck.
Minus trying to stand up but can't free himself from Brooks's guard.
Brooks trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Brooks is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Minus slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Minus throwing strikes but missing.
Minus wants to control from the top but Brooks keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Brooks tries for a takedown but Minus sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Minus appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Brooks shoots in for a double leg but Minus sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Minus goes for a double leg but Brooks avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Brooks continues to drive forward.

A right-left combo lands from Minus.
No luck for Brooks with that takedown attempt.
Brooks blocks a head kick by Minus.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Minus.
Brooks lands with a slapping head kick.
Brooks tries to close the distance and clinch but Minus swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Minus with the counter takedown but Brooks avoids it easily.
Brooks tries to clinch but Minus is having none of it.
Brooks moves in looking to clinch but Minus pushes him off.

Minus drives through and clinches with Brooks against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Minus decides to pull guard.
Brooks wants to control from the top but Minus keeps moving.

Minus escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brooks gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Minus has Brooks pulled in close to control his posture.

Brooks drops back looking for a leg! Minus is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Minus manages to kick Brooks off! Brooks jumps back into Minus's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Minus wants to stand but Brooks is controlling the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Collin Minus comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Minus has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
