Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Oneal (ranked 5864 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Shang (ranked 8734 p4p, 0 weight class). Rafael Shang is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sam Oneal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rafael Shang!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oneal fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Shang dodges the punch combination from Oneal.
Shang shoots in looking for a takedown. Oneal tries to sprawl out of it but Shang keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Oneal manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Shang closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Shang is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Oneal knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Shang has eaten all the pies!
Shang trying to control the position but Oneal is working away.

Shang working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Oneal managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Shang.

Shang has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Shang shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Oneal pinned against the cage. Oneal gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Oneal gets caught napping as Shang dives in and scores a takedown. Oneal manages to retain guard.
Shang stops Oneal from standing up.
Oneal knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shang on the ground.
Shang is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shang won't allow Oneal to get back to his feet.
Shang lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shang trying to control but Oneal is working from the bottom.
Shang is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Shang drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shang jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Shang drops back looking for a leg! Oneal is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Oneal manages to kick Shang off! Shang jumps back into Oneal's guard.
Shang won't allow Oneal to get back to his feet.
Oneal will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Shang throws a big right hand that misses.

Shang drops back looking for a leg! Oneal is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Oneal manages to kick Shang off! Shang jumps back into Oneal's guard.
Shang sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Oneal's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Shang is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Oneal defends it well.
Oneal is trying to stand up here but Shang is controlling him well.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Shang is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Oneal sees it coming and defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rafael Shang dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Oneal lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Shang backs up against the cage.
Oneal shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Shang eats them both and turns towards Oneal to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Oneal misses with a two punch combination.
Rafael Shang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shang takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Oneal connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Shang's hands.
Sam Oneal is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Oneal scores with a sloppy right hand. Shang should have avoided that one.


Shang is rocked!
Oneal is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Oneal is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Shang hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Sam Oneal!
