PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Orpheus Boagrius (ranked 291 p4p, 12 weight class) and Jimi Powell (ranked 654 p4p, 31 weight class). Boagrius comes to the cage accompanied by Akkadian Empire . Powell comes into a darkened arena with his song building. 8 Mile kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boagrius defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Powell.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Powell has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Powell bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Powell loads up on a big right hand but Boagrius slips the punch.
Powell tries to score a power double leg takedown but Boagrius sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Powell somewhat.
Boagrius throws out a loose jab but Powell uses good head movement to avoid it.

Boagrius looks to score with a jab to the body but Powell is just out of range.

A quick step to the side and Boagrius tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Powell has a takedown stuffed.
Orpheus Boagrius has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimi Powell.
Powell throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Boagrius makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Powell really felt that one!

Boagrius drops Powell with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Powell looks back up at him and smiles so Boagrius waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Powell sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Powell walks into a stiff left hand from Boagrius.
Boagrius drops Powell with a big left hand! Powell is injured, injured bad! Boagrius jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
