Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Abdulsalam Atlangeriev (ranked 4672 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chukwumo Viwako (ranked 4973 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Abdulsalam Atlangeriev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chukwumo Viwako!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Viwako shoots in looking for a takedown. Atlangeriev tries to sprawl out of it but Viwako keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Atlangeriev manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Viwako enables Atlangeriev to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Viwako manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Viwako pushes Atlangeriev off and gets back to his feet.
Atlangeriev shoots in looking for a takedown but Viwako manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Atlangeriev's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Viwako is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Atlangeriev has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Viwako goes for a double leg but Atlangeriev avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Atlangeriev continues to drive forward.
Viwako is trying hard to land a takedown here. Atlangeriev sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Abdulsalam Atlangeriev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chukwumo Viwako.
Atlangeriev tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Viwako swivels and escapes.

Viwako gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Atlangeriev to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Atlangeriev has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Atlangeriev drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Atlangeriev jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Viwako can do anything to dispel that myth.
Viwako manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Atlangeriev manages to get himself to full guard.

Atlangeriev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Viwako on the ground.
Atlangeriev is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Viwako works over Atlangeriev with some ground and pound from guard.
Viwako keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Atlangeriev's head.

Atlangeriev working a defensive guard but Viwako passes into half guard.
Atlangeriev is refusing to be controlled, as Viwako sits in half guard.
Still in half guard, Viwako seems content to control.
Atlangeriev flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Viwako is taking a breather. Atlangeriev says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Viwako is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Atlangeriev sees it coming and defends easily.
Viwako is pressing down on Atlangeriev's thigh, looking to free his foot. Atlangeriev is holding on for now.
Atlangeriev is looking to improve his position.
Viwako perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Viwako punishes Atlangeriev's body with a nice straight punch.
A head kick misses from Viwako.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chukwumo Viwako dominated that round.
That's time! Atlangeriev's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Atlangeriev leaves Viwako with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Viwako misses with the combination.

Viwako tries for a takedown but Atlangeriev circles away easily

and Atlangeriev decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Viwako's guard.

Atlangeriev controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Atlangeriev looking to sit in guard and control but Viwako gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Atlangeriev is adopting a defensive guard.

Viwako avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Viwako slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Viwako is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Atlangeriev has escaped the position, nice work there.
Atlangeriev tries to buck Viwako off but Viwako is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Atlangeriev is trying to control Viwako's posture but Viwako avoids it.
Viwako misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Atlangeriev can't do much from the bottom here.
Atlangeriev is trying to improve his position.
Atlangeriev is not content to let Viwako control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Viwako has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Atlangeriev is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Viwako yanks on the arm and Atlangeriev is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Viwako.
