Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Cain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mon Key (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cain comes to the cage accompanied by Don't talk to stranger- Hedley. Matt Cain has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Cain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mon Key!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Key looks for a takedown but Cain sprawls well.
Key looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cain lands a head kick!
Cain throws a nice looking combination but Key bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Cain tries a head kick but it misses.
Cain has his takedown stuffed

and Key counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cain's guard now.
Key postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Key scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Key stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cain swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Key postures up.
Key trying to control but Cain is working from the bottom.
Cain pulls Key in close to his closed guard and prevents Key from doing any damage or advancing position.
Key is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cain trying to control the position.
Key tries to free his leg and advance position but Cain is retaining full guard.
Cain trying to keep a closed guard but Key is proving a slippery customer.
Cain is breathing heavily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Key fails with the takedown

and Cain counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Key!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Key is wriggling around trying to escape.
Key is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Key tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Key is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Key tries to hold on but Cain pushes him away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Key is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Key really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Key trying desperately to get to his feet.

Cain get's back to his feet.
Cain lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Key gets a takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mon Key will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Key closes the distance but Cain moves to the side
and Cain counters with a body kick.
Key throws a jab when Cain was well out of range.
Matt Cain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Key wants to clinch but Cain slips to the side
and Cain counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Key is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Cain circles away from the clinch attempt
and Cain counters with a series of strikes. Key will be more careful next time no doubt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Key, right into the meat.
Key tries to clinch but Cain moves away

and Cain counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Key's guard now.
Key has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Key working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cain doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cain manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Key holds on and takes a little breather.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cain preventing the sweep.
Key has Cain pulled in close to control his posture.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Key escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Key keeping moving, preventing Cain from controlling successfully.
Key trying to strike off his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Key managing to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Matt Cain will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Cain shoots and misses

and Key decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cain's guard.

Key gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Key tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Cain counters with a low kick, right behind Key 's knee.

Key looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Key sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Cain can't keep his opponent in guard - Key advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Key is controlling the pace.
Let's hope that Key has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cain keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Key slows the pace down in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Despite being in the dominant position, Mon Key just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Key shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Key was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Key postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Cain looks a forlorn figure.
Key takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Key cracks Cain with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Key controlling from mount.
The referee warns Cain that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mon Key comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Key has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
