PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Dux (ranked 1774 p4p, 256 weight class) and Alejandro Scott (ranked 1211 p4p, 196 weight class). Scott has chosen Alejandro - Lady Gaga as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 24 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Dux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alejandro Scott!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Bruno Lombardi and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Scott throws a nice inside leg kick.
Scott throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Dux crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Scott - the referee stops the clock and Dux gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Scott. Dux manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Scott avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A little jabbing left from Scott on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Dux tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Dux gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Scott stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dux swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Scott controls from within his opponent's guard.
Dux knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Scott on the ground.

Scott stops Dux from standing up.

Scott's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Scott takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Scott uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Dux.
Scott throws a body punch but Dux moves out of range.
Dux throws a combination that misses
and Scott counters with a thumping low kick.
Frank Dux seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Scott is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Scott throws an overhand right that lands on Dux's shoulder, as Dux tries to avoid the shot.
Dux shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Dux throws a right hand that Scott ducks under and follows up with a left that Scott also avoids with ease.
Scott connects with a body shot.
Scott steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dux.
Dux is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Dux throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Scott looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A jab lands there for Scott.
Dux tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Scott throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Scott moves away from the strike by Dux.
Dux on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Dux fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Scott.
The fighters circle momentarily. Dux darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Dux throws a shot from downtown. Scott moves away and avoids it.
Scott throws a leg kick which misses Dux's front leg but catches the back leg as Dux tries to avoid it.
Scott lands a nice leg kick that just misses Dux's sensitive parts.
Scott blocks a head kick by Dux.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dux checks a low kick from Scott.
Dux lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Dux gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Scott to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Scott stays in close to Dux's body and controls the position.
Let's hope that Scott has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Dux wants to stand and escape but Scott is having none of it.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Scott works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Scott tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dux knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alejandro Scott dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Dux scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Scott doesn't seem bothered though.
Dux looks to land a left hand but Scott moved out of range nicely.

Scott throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

and Scott decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dux's guard.
Scott has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
I wouldn't like to be where Dux is right now.
Dux prevents Scott from moving into mount.
Scott controls the position from side control.
Dux tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Dux is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Scott fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Dux throws a series of punches but Scott moves out of range.

and Scott counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and Scott counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Scott slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Dux is adopting a defensive guard.
Dux is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Scott is controlling him.

Dux is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alejandro Scott showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Dux shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Scott throws a head kick but Dux moves out of range.

and Scott counters with a nice leg kick.

Scott was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Scott has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Dux is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

It looked like Dux wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Good leg kick by Scott there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Scott slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Scott.
Frank Dux has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Scott drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Scott jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Alejandro Scott comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Scott has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
