PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vladamir Slamenkov (ranked 4102 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rory Fowler (ranked 25213 p4p, 0 weight class). Fowler has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slamenkov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fowler pinned against the cage. Fowler gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fowler is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Slamenkov has Fowler up against the cage in a clinch.
Fowler struggles to land a body shot inside as Slamenkov controls his hands.
Slamenkov is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Fowler breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fowler displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Slamenkov.
Fowler stuffs the takedown attempt from Slamenkov. Slamenkov gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vladamir Slamenkov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fowler misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Slamenkov fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fowler, pushing him back against the cage.
Fowler is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Slamenkov is defending well for now.

Fowler gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Fowler breaks the clinch.

Fowler pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Slamenkov drives through with a takedown into guard.
Slamenkov trying to control the position from guard on top but Fowler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Slamenkov is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Slamenkov is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Slamenkov sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Fowler's guard.
Fowler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Slamenkov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Slamenkov is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Fowler is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
