Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Socorro Pedroso (ranked 1409 p4p, 175 weight class) and Medusa Grip (ranked 1227 p4p, 160 weight class). Medusa Grip has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Socorro Pedroso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Medusa Grip!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grip throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Pedroso counter with a right hand.
Pedroso ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Grip moves away.
Grip throws a poor cross that misses
and Pedroso counters with a nice uppercut.
Grip's coach down at ELITE Island Gym - 19 Elite Coaches was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Grip's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Grip tries to clinch
and Pedroso counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Grip looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Pedroso!

Grip tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pedroso is not content to let Grip control the position.

Grip wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pedroso, who protects the arm well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pedroso struggling a bit here.

Grip thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grip wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pedroso keeps working.

Grip is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Pedroso is trying to escape and Grip transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Pedroso is forced to tap! Nice work there by Grip! Very nice indeed!
