PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Por Hada (ranked 5920 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ramon Sessions (ranked 23484 p4p, 0 weight class). Ramon Sessions will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Por Hada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ramon Sessions !
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sessions misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Sessions changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hada tries to avoid it but Sessions manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hada to the ground. Hada escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Sessions scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Sessions trying to control from Hada's half guard. Hada has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Hada throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Hada wants to stand and escape but Sessions is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hada is adopting a defensive guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hada looking for a sweep. Not yet Hada, not yet.
Sessions wanted to stand there but Hada had control of the position.
Hada pulls Sessions in close to prevent any damage.
Sessions lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Sessions avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sessions controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hada could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sessions is fighting to break Hada's control of his arms but Hada is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Hada has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Hada keeping moving, preventing Sessions from controlling successfully.
Sessions stops Hada from standing up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sessions slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Sessions tries to stand but Hada is controlling his head.
Sessions trying to control the action but Hada is working from the bottom.

Sessions working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Hada throws a sloppy head kick
and Sessions counters with a right hand to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sessions tries to clinch up but Hada circles away and keeps his distance.

Hada moves into the clinch successfully.
Hada displaying some good clinch control by pressing Sessions up against the cage.
Sessions gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hada.

Hada breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sessions moves into the clinch.
Hada with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Sessions is looking to break free of the clinch but Hada has double underhooks.

Hada manages to pull guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Por Hada dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sessions shoots for a takedown but Hada saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Sessions looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sessions enables Hada to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sessions manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hada seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hada connects with a couple of short punches.
Hada wants to get up but he can't break Sessions 's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hada is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Sessions trying to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hada advances to half guard.
Sessions is trying to stand up here but Hada is controlling him well.
Hada takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Sessions is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hada is thwarting Sessions 's attempts to control the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Por Hada overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sessions is defending against the submission attempts here by Hada.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sessions is looking for a sweep. Hada is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Hada is looking for a kimura here.
Hada is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Sessions has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hada is working away from the top position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sessions gets back to full guard.
Sessions really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hada. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sessions is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hada passes into half guard.
Hada winds up and cracks Sessions with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Sessions is looking to control Hada's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sessions avoid being mounted?
Hada is controlling the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hada thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hada throws a lazy head kick

and Sessions counters with a shoot takedown. Hada fights it but they end up in guard.
Hada tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hada pulls Sessions in to control the position.
Hada is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sessions can do to turn this around?
Sessions wants to get up but he can't break Hada's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Hada is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Hada looks for the body kick but Sessions saw that one coming.
Sessions looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Hada has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Sessions should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Hada has tightened it up now! Sessions should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
