Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Peter Parker (ranked 119 p4p, 14 weight class) and Bill Newton (ranked 377 p4p, 41 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Parker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Bill Newton!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Roberts and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parker has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Parker there as he acknowledges the shot.
Parker ducks under a wild hook from Newton.
Newton swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Newton has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
No luck for Newton with that takedown attempt.
Parker is looking to counter punch.
Newton takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Newton fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Newton shoots in but Parker avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Peter Parker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bill Newton.

Parker clinches up against the cage.
Newton changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Parker fights it off and pushes away nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Parker lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Newton at a distance.

Parker throws a body punch but Newton moves out of range.
Newton takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Newton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Parker but Parker pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Parker's jab looks to have found its range, popping Newton under the eye.
Newton uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Parker.
Parker ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Newton moves away.
Parker throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Newton sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Newton has a takedown stuffed.
Parker lands with a straight right. Newton didn't see that one coming.
Newton uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Parker.
Newton is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Parker has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Gym in the buildup to the fight.

Newton dives in for a single leg takedown but Parker sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Newton shoots in looking for a takedown. Parker tries to sprawl out of it but Newton keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Parker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Parker throws a lazy right hand but Newton sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Newton tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Parker's corner calls for a 1-2. Parker obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Parker throws a right hand that misses

and Newton counters with a single leg into guard. Parker didn't expect that.
Newton trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Newton drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Parker dives on top into guard.

Newton looking to hit a scissor sweep but Parker is one step ahead there.
Parker not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Parker continues to stall.

Parker avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Parker stays in close to Newton's body and controls the position.
Newton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Newton is looking for a triangle but Parker pushes his legs off easily.
Newton wants to sweep here but Parker controlling him for the moment.
Newton wants to hit a switch here but Parker passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Newton there!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Newton shoots in for a takedown but Parker shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Parker swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Newton dodges the punch combination from Parker.
Newton ducks under a wild hook from Parker.
Parker misses with a straight left.
Parker throws out a loose jab but Newton uses good head movement to avoid it.
Parker slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Newton fails to pull guard.
Newton tries to pull guard but Parker forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Newton jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Parker walks away with a smile on his face. Newton gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Newton avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Newton loads up on a big right hand but Parker slips the punch.
Newton moves away from the strike by Parker.

Parker throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
And Newton tries to counter it with a takedown but Parker pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Newton looks for a takedown but Parker sprawls well.
Parker scores with a jab.

Parker moves into range and clinches up with Newton.

Newton pulls guard effortlessly.
Parker has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Parker controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Newton isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Parker stacks Newton on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Parker!
The referee asks Parker politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Parker prefers to stall for the moment though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Newton tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Parker wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Newton is trying to control Parker's posture but Parker avoids it.
Newton holds on to Parker's head and controls the position momentarily.

Newton tries to buck Parker off but Parker is having none of it.
Parker misses with the ground and pound.
Parker in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Newton is looking for a sweep.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Parker clinches with his opponent.
Newton changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Parker fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Peter Parker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Parker looks to land a right hand but Newton moved out of range.
Parker will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Parker moves into range and clinches up with Newton.
Newton jumps guard but Parker stands there with Newton around his waist. Newton gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Newton blocks a body shot from Parker.

Newton pulls Parker into guard.
Peter Parker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Parker trying to control but Newton is working from the bottom.
Newton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Parker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Newton is keeping the position for now.
Parker won't allow Newton to sweep him here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Newton can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Parker controls the pace.
Parker pushes down on Newton's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Newton struggles to land a body shot inside as Parker controls his hands.
Newton tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Parker smiles and moves away.
Peter Parker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Parker ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Newton moves away.
Parker takes a swing at Newton's ribcage but misses.
Newton uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Parker.
Newton drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Parker defends it well.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Parker.
Parker is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Newton can do to turn this around?

Parker lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Newton working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Newton has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Parker uses from the top position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Newton is looking to cinch up a triangle. Parker throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Newton's body to avoid the submission. Newton has instead reached around Parker's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Newton arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
