Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Francisco Marquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Carlos Brooks!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Dirk Anderson and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks fails to land the takedown.
Marquez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Brooks defends it nicely.
Brooks has a takedown stuffed.
Marquez fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Brooks moves in looking to clinch but Marquez pushes him off.
Brooks looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Francisco Marquez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Brooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brooks bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Marquez's head backwards.

Marquez gets control of Brooks's arms and successfully pulls guard. Marquez will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Marquez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brooks doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brooks manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Brooks stays in close to Marquez's body and controls the position.
Brooks wants to get up but he can't break Marquez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Brooks has his takedown stuffed
and Marquez counters with a three punch combo that has Brooks backing up. Brooks nods at Marquez to acknowledge the strikes.

Marquez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Brooks.
Brooks dives in and grabs Marquez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Marquez pushes down on Brooks's head and hops out.
Brooks lands a leg kick that knocks Marquez off balance momentarily.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Francisco Marquez.
Well Marquez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
