Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Giuseppe Cogliandro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jason Lee!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cogliandro closes the distance and clinches up with Lee, looking for a takedown. Cogliandro pushes Lee against the cage but Lee circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lee's coach down at Island Safe Space was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Lee's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Lee looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Cogliandro shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cogliandro showed some decent athleticism there.
Lee has hold of Cogliandro's hands but Cogliandro slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Cogliandro seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Cogliandro is looking to take a break and control but Lee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cogliandro takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee has hold of Cogliandro's hands but Cogliandro slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cogliandro is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Cogliandro has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cogliandro scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Lee?

Lee is squirming around, avoiding Cogliandro's attempts to control the action.

Cogliandro looking for a guillotine from mount but Lee is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cogliandro cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Lee has left one of his arms exposed and Cogliandro doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Lee screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Giuseppe Cogliandro!
