Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tiger Hernandez (ranked 5885 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Rodriguez (ranked 5838 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tiger Hernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Corey Rodriguez!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Daniel Franklin and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hernandez misses with a takedown attempt
and Hernandez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Rodriguez throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Hernandez throws a sloppy head kick

and Rodriguez holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Hernandez wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Rodriguez scores with a shot to the side of Hernandez's head.
Hernandez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rodriguez walks away with a smile on his face. Hernandez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Rodriguez has a takedown stuffed.
Rodriguez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hernandez wants to clinch

and Rodriguez counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Hernandez tries to kick Rodriguez off in order to stand up. Rodriguez Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Rodriguez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hernandez is trying to get back to half guard.

Rodriguez is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rodriguez cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Rodriguez is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hernandez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Hernandez wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Hernandez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Rodriguez controls the position.

Rodriguez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hernandez is just riding it out for now. Rodriguez eventually gives up the hold.

I really don't envy Hernandez right now.
Hernandez is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Rodriguez.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Rodriguez shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hernandez eats them both and turns towards Rodriguez to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Rodriguez has Hernandez up against the cage in a clinch.
Rodriguez is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Hernandez is defending well for now.
Hernandez gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rodriguez.

Rodriguez decides to stand back up. Rodriguez steps back and let's Hernandez get back to his feet.
Rodriguez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hernandez.

Hernandez shoots for a takedown but Rodriguez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Rodriguez has control of Hernandez's left arm, preventing Hernandez from doing any damage.
Rodriguez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hernandez is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Rodriguez has latched onto it... Big trouble! Rodriguez pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Hernandez is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Rodriguez!
