The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ward.
Ward tries to clinch up but Jelic circles away and keeps his distance.
Ward shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jelic as he jumps to the side.
Ward tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jelic was well out of range. Poor timing from Ward.
Jelic keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ivan Jelic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mickey Ward.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A combination from Jelic does no damage.

Ward takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Jelic keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ward tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jelic manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Ward goes for a double leg but Jelic avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jelic continues to drive forward.

Mickey Ward seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ward misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
As Ward looks to move away, Jelic throws a big counter combo but Ward just gets out of the way.

Jelic scores with a hook to the body. Ward takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Jelic throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ward stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jelic lands a lovely overhand right.

Ward is rocked!

Ward is still on wobbly legs! Can Jelic finish him?

Jelic lands a nice hook to Ward's body. Ward takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Jelic lands a big uppercut and Ward crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Ward looks OK. Jelic waves Ward back to his feet!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jelic lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Ward falls backwards - clearly groggy! Jelic dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
