PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mo Frazier (ranked 2587 p4p, 306 weight class) and Toshiro Montero (ranked 1323 p4p, 159 weight class). Montero has chosen Danzig - Mother as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 18 - 0, fighting out of London, Mo Frazier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Toshiro Montero!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frazier is looking to clinch.

Frazier drives through and clinches with Montero against the cage.
Frazier tries a body shot but Montero blocks it.

Montero has picked Frazier up - he's going for a ride! Montero dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Montero looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Montero seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Frazier does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Montero seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Frazier does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Montero is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Frazier has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Montero is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Montero fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Frazier to the ground. Montero is now in Frazier's guard.

Frazier wants to get back to his feet but Montero is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Montero is looking to chop away at Frazier's legs.

Crunch! Frazier slams his shin into Montero's torso.
Frazier misses with a low kick.
Montero throws the left hand but Frazier avoids the punch easily.
Montero ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Montero throws a big shot that misses.
Frazier seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Frazier takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Montero closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Montero is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Frazier knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Montero advances to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Montero prevents Frazier from getting the reversal.

Montero has hold of Frazier's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Frazier manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Montero swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Frazier is now in Montero's guard. A big mistake from Montero there, giving up the dominant position!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Frazier slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Montero working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Frazier doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Frazier manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Frazier tries to free his leg and advance position but Montero is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Toshiro Montero dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Montero fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Frazier manages to avoid it.
Frazier throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Montero tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Montero gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Frazier counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Montero lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Frazier has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Frazier and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Frazier counters with a left and a right that stings Montero.
The fight stays on the outside here - Frazier looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Toshiro Montero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd cheers as Frazier lands an impressive looking overhand right. Montero doesn't seem phased though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Frazier bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Montero's head backwards.
Some bone on bone action there as Frazier checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

It looked like Frazier was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
