Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jake Seabrook (ranked 5767 p4p, 281 weight class) and Lester John Mate Jr (ranked 25287 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Seabrook!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Lester John Mate Jr!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Seabrook closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mate Jr did well to prevent Seabrook getting side control.
Mate Jr landing rabbit punches to the side of Seabrook's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points.

Mate Jr looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Seabrook not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Seabrook escapes and gets back to his feet.
Seabrook shoots in but no luck this time.
Seabrook shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mate Jr as he jumps to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mate Jr moves into the clinch successfully.

Mate Jr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Seabrook looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Seabrook is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Seabrook in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Mate Jr is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Mate Jr is looking for a triangle but Seabrook pushes his legs off easily.
Seabrook controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Seabrook closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Mate Jr throws Seabrook to one side and escapes!

Seabrook shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mate Jr is trying to defend but Seabrook finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Seabrook looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Mate Jr is trying to maintain the position but Seabrook is very close to passing his half guard.

Mate Jr is looking to control Seabrook's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mate Jr avoid being mounted?

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mate Jr is not content to let Seabrook control the position.

Seabrook wants to take a breather but Mate Jr is having none of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Seabrook takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Seabrook is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Seabrook keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lester John Mate Jr will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Seabrook looks for a takedown but Mate Jr sprawls well.
Seabrook fails with the takedown.
Seabrook scores with the left hand. Mate Jr knows he should have avoided that one.
Seabrook misses with a combination

and Mate Jr decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Seabrook's guard.
Seabrook has momentary wrist control but Mate Jr slips an elbow through the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Seabrook looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Mate Jr wants to control from the top but Seabrook keeps moving.

Mate Jr really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Seabrook. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mate Jr decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Seabrook, up you get!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Seabrook shoots for a double leg takedown but Mate Jr sprawls well. He's pushed Seabrook's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Seabrook. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Seabrook moves into range and connects with a jab.
Seabrook fails to land the takedown.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mate Jr enables Seabrook to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mate Jr manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mate Jr is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mate Jr looking to hit a scissor sweep but Seabrook is one step ahead there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mate Jr wanted to stand there but Seabrook had control of the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Seabrook has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Mate Jr has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Seabrook breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Lester John Mate Jr will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Seabrook tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mate Jr manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mate Jr tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
As Mate Jr looks to move away, Seabrook throws a big counter combo but Mate Jr just gets out of the way.
Mate Jr throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Seabrook shoots in for a double leg but Mate Jr sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mate Jr lands a head kick. Seabrook smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Mate Jr closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Mate Jr tries to pull guard but Seabrook won't allow it.

Mate Jr prevents a takedown attempt there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Seabrook lands an elbow just above Mate Jr 's eye.

Seabrook tries to stall but Mate Jr uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Mate Jr lands a nice shot to the body.

Seabrook has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mate Jr uses from the top position.
Mate Jr wants to get up but he can't break Seabrook's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Seabrook controls Mate Jr momentarily but Mate Jr frees himself.

Seabrook has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mate Jr can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Jake Seabrook overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mate Jr shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Seabrook but Seabrook pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mate Jr tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Seabrook smiles and moves away.

Mate Jr drives through and clinches with Seabrook against the cage.
Mate Jr has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Seabrook is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Seabrook.
Seabrook avoiding damage as Mate Jr throws knees to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mate Jr escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Seabrook defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mate Jr.
No joy there for Seabrook, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lester John Mate Jr is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Crunch! Seabrook slams his shin into Mate Jr's torso.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jake Seabrook showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Mate Jr has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
