Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Graham Preston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dustin Somm!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Preston tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Somm moves into the clinch.

Somm decides to pull guard.

Somm escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Preston gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Preston trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Preston trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Somm manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Somm passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Somm is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Preston knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Somm stands up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Somm closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Preston's guard.

Somm has gone for a leg lock! Preston slips out almost immediately though and dives into Somm's guard.

Preston trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Preston slips nicely into half guard.

Preston is working for a submission of some sort.
Somm is looking to control Preston's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Somm avoid being mounted?

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Preston is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Preston wants to work for an arm triangle but Somm is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Somm is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Somm slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Somm looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Somm manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Preston manages to get himself to full guard.


That's three minutes gone in the round.
Preston has a closed guard, preventing Somm from standing up.
Somm pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Preston is keeping the position for now.
Somm is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Somm gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Preston tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Somm manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Preston is looking to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Somm clinches up with Preston and pushes him back against the cage.

Somm has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Preston regains guard immediately.

Somm drops back, looking for a kneebar! Preston looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Preston looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Preston!

Somm gets back to half guard.
Somm is controlling Preston's trapped leg to prevent Preston from advancing to side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Somm is looking to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dustin Somm dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Somm drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Somm throws a big elbow that misses.
Somm has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Somm slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Preston is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Somm defends well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Somm drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Somm as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Preston screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Somm! Nice submission victory there!
