Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between McGonner Cregor (ranked 3767 p4p, 407 weight class) and Jonathan Castillo (ranked 5892 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jonathan Castillo!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Fedor Mirinova and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cregor avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cregor misses with a kick to the body.
Castillo fails with a takedown attempt.
Cregor looks to land a combination but Castillo avoids it well.
Castillo throws a fast counter high kick but Cregor manages to duck under it in time.
Castillo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cregor sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Castillo somewhat.
Jonathan Castillo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Castillo counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Castillo.
Cregor wants to break the clinch but can't.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cregor wants to stand but Castillo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Cregor decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Castillo, up you get!
Cregor dives in and grabs Castillo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Castillo pushes down on Cregor's head and hops out.
Cregor throws a series of punches but Castillo avoids them all with ease.

Castillo takes the fight into the clinch.
Cregor lands a knee to the body.

Cregor gets control of Castillo's arms and successfully pulls guard. Cregor will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cregor connects with a nice short shot to Castillo's temple.

Cregor takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Cregor is just content to waste time from the top position. Castillo takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Cregor wants to get up but he can't break Castillo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Castillo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

As Castillo tries to get set, Cregor tries to push him back and clinch up but Castillo manages to avoid the attempt.

It looked like Cregor wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

A close second round but Jonathan Castillo will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Cregor is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Castillo can do to turn this around?
Cregor shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Castillo as he avoids it easily.
Castillo throws a right hand that Cregor ducks under and follows up with a left that Cregor also avoids with ease.
Cregor leaves Castillo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Castillo seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Cregor shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Castillo is backing up but Cregor catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Castillo covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Cregor Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
