Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Spartucus Sparti (ranked 6004 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Sicila (ranked 8227 p4p, 0 weight class). Sparti kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bacchus. Sam Sicila is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sparti digs a good body shot into Sicila's ribs.
Sparti looking to score a takedown here. Sicila is defending well but Sparti drives through and ends up in Sicila's guard.
Sicila wants to get back to his feet but Sparti passes into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sparti seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sicila for as long as he can get away with.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Sparti lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sicila backs up against the cage.
Sicila gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sparti to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Sparti stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sicila swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Our spies down at at Cozad The Island inform us that Sicila has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Sicila isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Sparti stacks Sicila on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Sparti!

Sparti throws a strike aimed at the side of Sicila's head but Sicila avoids it well.

Sparti drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sicila looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sicila looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sicila!

Sparti lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Sparti.

Sicila wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Sparti manages to pass to side control.
