Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Reginald Lewis (ranked 2895 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackson Starling (ranked 8691 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson Starling is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reginald Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jackson Starling!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Reed Andrews and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lewis clinches up against the cage.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!

Lewis pulls guard.
Starling seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Lewis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Starling trying to control but Lewis is working from the bottom.
Lewis tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Lewis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Starling is aware though and is defending well.
Starling trying to control the position from guard on top but Lewis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Starling controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Starling is looking to work some ground and pound but Lewis has wrist control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Starling pushes Lewis up against the cage in a clinch.
Starling tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Starling throws a punch but it's blocked by Lewis.
Starling is trying to pull guard but Lewis turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Reginald Lewis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jackson Starling.

Lewis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Lewis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lewis wants it to stay on the feet.

Lewis decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Starling looks like he's trying to stand up.

Starling has closed the distance and engaged Lewis in a clinch.
Starling has a couple of punches blocked by Lewis.
Lewis is pushing Starling up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Lewis tightens his grip and picks Starling up, before dumping him to the ground. Starling manages to land in guard.

Starling has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Lewis is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Lewis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Starling but Starling pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Starling swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Lewis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Starling.
Starling shoots in for a takedown but Lewis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Starling shoots in and drives through. Lewis sprawls well.
Reginald Lewis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jackson Starling.

Starling dips to his left and cracks Lewis with an uppercut!

Starling tries to pull guard but Lewis holds him up against the cage and eventually Starling drops back down to his feet.

Lewis is trying to trip Starling. He has hold of a leg but Starling is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Lewis persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Starling manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Lewis blocking some punches.
Starling tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lewis smiles and moves away.

Lewis scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Starling wants to get back to his feet.
Lewis trying to control the action but Starling is working from the bottom.
Lewis landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

Starling explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Lewis looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Lewis tries to pass the half guard into mount. Starling knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Starling keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Lewis stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Starling to get to his feet.
Starling tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lewis swivels and escapes.

Lewis is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Starling's half guard.
Lewis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Lewis prevents Starling from standing back up.
Lewis tries to pass to full mount but Starling defends it.
Lewis is trying to control the action in half guard but Starling is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Starling wants to get back to his feet.

Starling manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Lewis keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lewis manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jackson Starling will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Lewis throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Starling tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lewis is in Starling's guard.

Lewis has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Starling uses from the top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Starling fails in his attempt to clinch.

Starling has his feet on Lewis's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Starling is looking to clinch.

Lewis closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Starling's guard.
Lewis throws a strike but Starling rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Starling wants to get back to his feet but Lewis is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Lewis drops back looking for a leg! Starling is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Starling manages to kick Lewis off! Lewis jumps back into Starling's guard.
Starling keeping moving, preventing Lewis from controlling successfully.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Starling is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lewis is controlling him.
Lewis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lewis wants to control from the top but Starling keeps moving.
Starling wants to stand up but Lewis is controlling him.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Reginald Lewis.
I think Lewis has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
