PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Errol Santos (ranked 8303 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keshaun Noel (ranked 7690 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Errol Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Keshaun Noel!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Columbo Gatti and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Noel looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Santos looking for submissions off his back.
Noel throwing shots but Santos is blocking nicely.
Santos wants to get back to his feet.
Santos is pressing down on Noel's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Santos trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Santos looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Noel cracks Santos with a solid left hand.
Noel prevents Santos from getting back to his feet.
Santos seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Noel's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Noel throwing strikes but missing.

Santos throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Santos keeping moving, preventing Noel from controlling successfully.

Santos has his foot on Noel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Noel works his way back into a safe position though.
Noel won't allow Santos to get back to his feet.

Santos is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Noel scoring with some ground and pound.
Noel working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Noel trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Santos lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Noel looking for a sweep. Not yet Noel, not yet.
Santos is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Noel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Noel is looking to stand back up but Santos counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Noel.
Santos is keen to just control but Noel is a slippery customer.

Santos is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Noel is just riding it out for now. Santos eventually gives up the hold.
Santos is controlling the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Noel controlling the position for now.
Santos is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Santos is controlling the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Santos is trying to control the action in half guard but Noel is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Errol Santos dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A bone on bone clash there as Santos blocks the leg kick.
Santos feinted with a counter takedown.
Keshaun Noel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Noel lands a two punch combo.


It looks like Errol Santos has been cut.
Noel's coach down at Dream Big Academy was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Noel's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Noel misses with a hook to the ribs.
The referee is keeping an eye on Noel - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
A short body shot lands from Noel as the two fighters clinch.
Santos is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Noel to keep the fight standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Santos had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Noel defends it easily.

Noel stands up from Santos's guard - Noel perhaps looking for a knockout.
Santos takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Noel just misses with a punch to the body.
Santos shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
A punch combination from Noel misses.

Noel drops Santos with a beautiful combination! Santos stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Noel is looking for the KO!


Santos is rocked!
Noel lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Santos crumples to the floor! Noel milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Keshaun Noel!
