PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Petteri Ojanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and charles smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, charles smith!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ojanen lands an overhand right.
smith tries to clinch but Ojanen is having none of it.
smith throws a shot to the body.
Some bone on bone action there as Ojanen checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Ojanen rushes smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Ojanen prevents the takedown attempt.

Ojanen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ojanen stuffs the takedown attempt from smith. smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Ojanen lands a nice looking kick to the body. smith takes a step back to recover.
Ojanen pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Ojanen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ojanen lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ojanen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Ojanen is trying to get an arm triangle but smith is defending well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ojanen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. smith knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

You can see the frustration on smith's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Ojanen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by smith, who protects the arm well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ojanen is looking to take a break and control but smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
smith tries to buck Ojanen off but Ojanen is having none of it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Ojanen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but smith is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
smith is looking for a sweep.

Ojanen has an Americana. smith didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Ojanen is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Ojanen hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
