PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bill Oddie (ranked 890 p4p, 115 weight class) and Coy Lopez (ranked 22278 p4p, 680 weight class). Oddie comes into the arena with Wild Thing blaring out of the sound system. Lopez is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Champs- Tequilla. Coy Lopez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lopez throws a right hand that misses
and Oddie counters with a body kick that stops Lopez in his tracks momentarily.
Lopez misses with a two punch combination.
Oddie misses with a body shot.
Oddie pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Lopez scores with a jab to the jaw.
Oddie scores with a hook to the body. Lopez takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Lopez moves out of range as Oddie strikes.
Oddie throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Oddie, right into the meat.
Oddie misses with a wild body shot.
Donk. Lopez catches Oddie right on the button with a cross.

Oddie looks to land a body kick but Lopez moved away.
Oddie missing with a left hand there. Lopez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Lopez tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Oddie.
Oddie throws a front kick aimed at Lopez's knee but Lopez avoids it well.
Oddie tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Oddie uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Lopez.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Oddie enables Lopez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Oddie manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lopez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Oddie is pulling down on Lopez's head. It's preventing any offense from Lopez, at least for the moment.

Lopez throws a lazy right hand but Oddie sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Lopez is rocked!
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Oddie engages and cracks Lopez with a massive lead left hook - Lopez tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Oddie is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!

After winning the bout, Bill Oddie thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
