The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Valentine scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Grenoble tries to buck Valentine off but Valentine is having none of it.
Valentine cracks Grenoble with a big right hand but Grenoble just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Grenoble is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Valentine's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Grenoble avoids a strike by Valentine and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Valentine's guard! Fantastic escape!

Grenoble seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Valentine for as long as he can get away with.

Grenoble's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Grenoble throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Valentine's waist but Valentine gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Grenoble off to one side.

Valentine closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Grenoble throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Valentine was covering up waiting for the punch and Grenoble finishes the takedown easily into guard.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Valentine enables Grenoble to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Valentine manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
