The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tiequan gets a clinch.
Tiequan is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Mcpherson manages to pull guard.
Mcpherson keeping moving, preventing Tiequan from controlling successfully.

Mcpherson is looking for a triangle but Tiequan pushes his legs off easily.
Mcpherson throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Tiequan wants to control from the top but Mcpherson keeps moving.
Tiequan stands and throws Mcpherson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Tiequan tries for a kimura but Mcpherson is defending well.
Mcpherson throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Mcpherson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Tiequan looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Mcpherson pushes past his half guard into mount!

Tiequan is looking for a sweep. Mcpherson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Tiequan is staying active underneath Mcpherson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Mcpherson gets tackled into the cage by Tiequan. Tiequan maintains the clinch.
Tiequan tries for a takedown. No joy.

Mcpherson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Tiequan darts in and clinches Mcpherson up against the cage.
Tiequan wants to break free but Mcpherson has control.
Mcpherson is pressed up against the cage. Tiequan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mcpherson down to the mat. Mcpherson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Tiequan fails with a takedown attempt.
It looked like Mcpherson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Boris Mcpherson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zhang Tiequan.

Tiequan tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Tiequan is trying to maintain a safe position but Mcpherson gets an underhook and turns Tiequan into the cage.
Mcpherson tries to pull guard but Tiequan won't allow it.

Tiequan has Mcpherson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mcpherson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Mcpherson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tiequan walks away with a smile on his face. Mcpherson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Mcpherson leaves Tiequan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
As Tiequan looks to move away, Mcpherson throws a big counter combo but Tiequan just gets out of the way.

Mcpherson tries to keep at a distance but Tiequan has taken the fight into the clinch.

Mcpherson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Tiequan to keep the fight standing.
Mcpherson is looking to take this one to the mat.
Mcpherson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tiequan walks away with a smile on his face. Mcpherson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Tiequan gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Mcpherson gets control of Tiequan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mcpherson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Mcpherson throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Boris Mcpherson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Tiequan throws a big elbow that misses.

Tiequan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mcpherson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tiequan has managed to get both his arms back between Mcpherson's legs - danger averted.
