Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Victor Stroev (ranked 3432 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Da Silva Miyao (ranked 4716 p4p, 0 weight class). Victor Stroev has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Victor Stroev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Paulo Da Silva Miyao!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stroev displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Miyao.
Stroev circles away from the clinch attempt.
Miyao throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Miyao fails to land the takedown.

Stroev has closed the distance and engaged Miyao in a clinch.

Stroev pulls guard effortlessly.
Stroev keeping moving, preventing Miyao from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stroev is looking for a triangle but Miyao pushes his legs off easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stroev managing to control the position.
Miyao trying to control the position from guard on top but Stroev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Miyao might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Stroev haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Stroev is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Miyao wants to control from the top but Stroev keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Stroev stuffs the takedown.
Stroev jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Victor Stroev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paulo Da Silva Miyao.
Miyao doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Stroev moves into the clinch.
Miyao tries to break the clinch but Stroev is controlling the position.

Stroev jumps guard and drags Miyao to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Stroev looking for a sweep. Not yet Stroev, not yet.
Miyao trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Miyao trying to control the position from guard on top but Stroev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Miyao thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Miyao is fighting to break Stroev's control of his arms but Stroev is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Stroev wants to stand and escape but Miyao is having none of it.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Stroev preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Stroev gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Stroev manages to pull guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Miyao trying to control but Stroev is working from the bottom.
Stroev is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Miyao is controlling him.
Miyao throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stroev works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Miyao trying to control the position from guard on top but Stroev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stroev tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Stroev wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Miyao is now in half guard.
Stroev is staying active underneath Miyao, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Victor Stroev dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Miyao shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stroev as he avoids it easily.
Miyao tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Stroev feinted with a counter takedown.
Victor Stroev is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Miyao moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Miyao tries to sprawl but Stroev drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Miyao slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Stroev pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Miyao is keeping the position for now.
Miyao bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stroev's guard.

Stroev is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Miyao can do to turn this around?

Victor Stroev overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Stroev wants to control the position but Miyao says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Stroev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Miyao has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Stroev defend it? Miyao steps over the head and cranks it - Stroev is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Miyao!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Paulo Da Silva Miyao!
