PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ryzen Dall (ranked 2502 p4p, 138 weight class) and Phil Harrass (ranked 2690 p4p, 145 weight class). Dall comes to the cage accompanied by Scarecrow. Harrass has chosen Tomorrow as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryzen Dall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil Harrass!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harrass darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Harrass sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Dall defending well though.
Harrass not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Harrass is keen to just control but Dall is a slippery customer.

Dall looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Dall is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Harrass is looking to take a break and control but Dall is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Harrass is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

We've been hearing good reports from Dall's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Harrass missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Harrass got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dall has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Harrass has managed to get both his arms back between Dall's legs - danger averted.

Dall working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Harrass doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Harrass manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Dall controls Harrass momentarily but Harrass frees himself.
Harrass wants to control from the top but Dall keeps moving.

Dall is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Dall is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dall misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Harrass tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dall swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Dall uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Harrass.

Dall changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Harrass pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Dall back to the cage. Harrass follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Dall looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Harrass swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Dall attempts a counter takedown but Harrass avoids it well and moves away.
Ryzen Dall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Harrass throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

and Dall counters with a nice double leg into side control. Harrass won't be happy with that.
Harrass manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harrass wants to improve his position but Dall is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dall is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Harrass looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dall is one step ahead there.
Dall stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harrass swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dall bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Harrass's guard.

Harrass manages to get back to half guard.
Dall moves into full mount! Harrass won't be happy about that!

Dall jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Harrass is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Harrass and Dall has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Dall tries for a kimura but Harrass is defending well.

Dall thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Dall is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Harrass has escaped the position, nice work there.

Phil Harrass showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ryzen Dall overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Harrass has his hands clasped together around Dall's back. He's all about the action.
Dall wants to pass the guard but Harrass is defending well.

Dall is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dall uses his free foot to push down on Harrass's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Harrass.

Dall is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Harrass has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Harrass!

Dall is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Harrass is aware though and is defending well.

A less than humble Phil Harrass misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
