Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Impala (ranked 2122 p4p, 252 weight class) and Max Paddy (ranked 2617 p4p, 295 weight class). Impala comes to the cage accompanied by Ambitions of a ridah. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Paddy!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and James Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paddy forces Impala back against the cage and clinches.

Paddy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Paddy misses with a wild body shot.

Impala tries to keep at a distance but Paddy has taken the fight into the clinch.

Paddy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Impala tries to land a leg kick but Paddy saw it coming and moves away.
Paddy throws a jab but it's blocked by Impala.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Paddy has Impala up against the cage in a clinch.
Impala has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Paddy avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Impala changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Paddy fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Impala tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Paddy defends well and Impala ends up having to push Paddy into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Despite the aggression on Paddy's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gunnar Impala. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Paddy throws a leg kick which misses Impala's front leg but catches the back leg as Impala tries to avoid it.

Impala goes for a takedown in the clinch but Paddy prevents it.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Paddy has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Paddy has Impala pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Paddy pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Impala tumbling to the mat - Paddy dives into Impala's guard.

Paddy wants to control from the top but Impala keeps moving.

Impala escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Paddy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

In his post fight interview, Max Paddy started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
