PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Bravo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Smashana Kali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bravo might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to timbuktu. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kali fails to land the takedown.
Kali throws a leg kick but Bravo moved away.

Bravo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Kali tries to buck Bravo off but Bravo is having none of it.
Bravo creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kali sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Bravo is trying to stand up here but Kali is controlling him well.

Bravo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kali stays in close to Bravo's body and controls the position.

Bravo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kali can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Bravo wants to sweep here but Kali controlling him for the moment.

Kali avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Bravo isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kali stacks Bravo on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kali!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bravo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kali's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kali's back!

Bravo is looking for the choke from the back position but Kali is controlling his hands well.

Bravo seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Kali's chin but Kali turns very nicely into Bravo's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Kali.

Kali must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bravo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bravo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kali doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bravo.

Kali tries for a takedown but Bravo circles away easily

and Bravo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kali's guard.

Bravo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kali manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bravo has Kali in his guard.
Bravo wants to sweep here but Kali controlling him for the moment.

Kali makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bravo is looking for a triangle here but Kali uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Kali really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bravo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kali tries to move into full mount but can't pass Bravo's legs.

Kali stands up and beckons Bravo to his feet.
Bravo closes the distance and clinches up with Kali, looking for a takedown. Bravo pushes Kali against the cage but Kali circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Bravo uses his free foot to push down on Kali's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kali.

Bravo throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Kali has his hands clasped together but Bravo breaks the hold and Kali is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Bravo!
