PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mallador Locke (ranked 3700 p4p, 391 weight class) and Stadin Kingi (ranked 499 p4p, 71 weight class). Kingi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Kahvimaito kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Stadin Kingi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mallador Locke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stadin Kingi!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kingi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kingi misses with a hook
and Locke cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Locke tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kingi swivels and escapes.
Kingi swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Locke looks to throw the jab but Kingi is out of range.
Kingi now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Kingi lands a really nice looking cross but Locke seems unphased.


It looks like Mallador Locke has been cut.
Locke swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Kingi counters with a crisp right hand that drops Locke! Kingi lets Locke back up to his feet, looking for a finish!


Locke is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kingi moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Oh Locke is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Locke tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kingi swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Locke is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kingi.
Kingi is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Locke seems to have got his legs back now.
Decent striking displayed by Locke there.

Locke defending well as Kingi loads up on a big left hand.
Locke seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
A left lands for Kingi.
Locke takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Locke tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kingi paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mallador Locke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kingi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Locke accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kingi keeping moving, preventing Locke from controlling successfully.

Kingi avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Locke trying to control but Kingi is working from the bottom.
Locke trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Locke might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Locke tries to free his leg and advance position but Kingi is retaining full guard.
Locke throws a strike but Kingi rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Kingi postures up.
Locke definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Locke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kingi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kingi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kingi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kingi pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Locke is keeping the position for now.
Locke looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kingi wants to pass the guard but Locke is keeping the position.
Kingi is stalling in the full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Locke gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kingi is pressed up against the cage. Locke has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kingi down to the mat. Kingi avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Kingi connects with the punch.
Kingi pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Locke looks for a takedown but Kingi sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mallador Locke. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kingi lands with a straight right. Locke didn't see that one coming.
Locke connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stadin Kingi dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Mallador Locke's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kingi throws a body punch but Locke moves out of range.
Locke is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Locke shoots in but Kingi avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kingi looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Locke walks into a jab.
Locke misses with a two punch combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kingi keeps the fight on the outside.
A little jabbing left from Kingi on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Locke tries to clinch but Kingi moves out of range.
Locke misses with a straight left.

Locke slips under a jab from Kingi.
Kingi throws a jab when Locke was well out of range.
Locke was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Kingi connects with a looping right hand.
Locke tries to clinch but Kingi moves out of range.
Kingi jabs Locke to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Kingi misses with a wild body shot.
Good leg kick by Kingi there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Locke moves into range and clinches up with Kingi.
Locke tries to score a body lock takedown but Kingi shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Locke prevents a body shot from Kingi.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Locke tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kingi just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mallador Locke. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Locke jumps guard but Kingi stands there with Locke around his waist. Locke gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Locke.
Kingi misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Kingi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Locke shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Locke showed some decent athleticism there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kingi is looking to control Locke's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kingi avoid being mounted?

Locke seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Locke is looking for a kimura but Kingi is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Locke to get the leverage.
Locke content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Locke is just content to waste time from the top position. Kingi takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Locke has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kingi is pulling down on Locke's head. It's preventing any offense from Locke, at least for the moment.
Locke loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kingi is pulling down on Locke's head to control his posture.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Locke accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Locke misses with a straight left.

A close second round but Stadin Kingi will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Locke tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kingi throws out a counter right but Locke avoids it with no problem.
Locke looks to clinch
and Kingi counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Kingi throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Locke on the side of the head.
Locke takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Locke takes one to the chin there.
Stadin Kingi seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Nice uppercut there from Kingi.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Locke uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kingi has time to react.
Kingi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kingi slips a jab and a cross from Locke.
Locke looks to clinch
and Kingi counters with a crisp right that sends Locke to the canvas! Kingi follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stadin Kingi!
Stadin Kingi spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
Mallador Locke was interviewed post fight and said 'I'll be back. Simple. I'll be back.'.
