Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mr Sandman (ranked 4456 p4p, 436 weight class) and Sianga Gathuessi (ranked 3742 p4p, 376 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mr Sandman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Sianga Gathuessi!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Colin Fotheringham and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sandman looks to land a combination. Gathuessi sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like Sianga Gathuessi has been cut.
Gathuessi clinches.
Sandman misses with a hook from the clinch.
Sandman is fighting off a takedown attempt but Gathuessi is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sandman to the mat. Sandman regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Gathuessi content to stall in guard here.
Gathuessi throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Sandman definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sandman keeping moving, preventing Gathuessi from controlling successfully.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sandman is on top in guard.
Gathuessi is looking for a triangle but Sandman pushes his legs off easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gathuessi can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sandman drops back looking for a leg! Gathuessi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gathuessi manages to kick Sandman off! Sandman jumps back into Gathuessi's guard.

Sandman working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Sandman throwing strikes from guard but Gathuessi blocks nicely.
Sandman trying to control but Gathuessi is working from the bottom.
Sandman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sandman's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Sandman scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Gathuessi pulls Sandman in close to prevent any damage.
Gathuessi preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Gathuessi doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Gathuessi is trying to control the position but Sandman postures up.
Sandman trying to control but Gathuessi is working from the bottom.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sandman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sandman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gathuessi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gathuessi keeping moving, preventing Sandman from controlling successfully.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Sandman misses with an uppercut.
Sandman bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Gathuessi's head backwards.
Sandman steps into range and cracks Gathuessi with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Gathuessi flops backwards and Sandman dives into his guard looking to finish!
Gathuessi is rocked!
Sandman wants to control from the top but Gathuessi keeps moving.
Gathuessi is still in real trouble! Can Sandman finish him?
Sandman is in close to Gathuessi's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sandman postures up and lands a big shot to Gathuessi's brow.
Gathuessi has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Sandman is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gathuessi.
Gathuessi on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
That has opened up Sianga Gathuessi's cut even more.
Sandman tries for a kimura but Gathuessi is defending well.
Sandman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gathuessi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Sandman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sandman stands up.
Gathuessi seems to have recovered his senses.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sandman cracks Gathuessi with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Gathuessi tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Sandman pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Gathuessi is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mr Sandman!
An out of breath Mr Sandman thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
