Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Amirkhan Adaev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kaplan Temrezov!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Igor Prikhodko and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adaev throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Temrezov tries to keep at a distance but Adaev has taken the fight into the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Temrezov tries for a takedown. No joy.
Adaev goes for a takedown in the clinch but Temrezov prevents it.

Adaev breaks the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Adaev throws a head kick but Temrezov moves out of range.

Adaev drives through with a takedown into guard.
Temrezov tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Adaev seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Adaev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Temrezov swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Temrezov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Adaev circles away.
Adaev shoots in looking for a takedown. Temrezov tries to sprawl out of it but Adaev keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Temrezov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Temrezov shoots for a double leg takedown but Adaev sprawls well. He's pushed Temrezov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Amirkhan Adaev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kaplan Temrezov.

Adaev tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Temrezov smiles and moves away.

Adaev has Temrezov pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Adaev pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Temrezov tumbling to the mat - Adaev dives into Temrezov's guard.

Temrezov is looking to control Adaev's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Temrezov avoid being mounted?

Adaev throws a big counter combination but Temrezov scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Adaev keeps the fight on the outside.

Adaev clinches with his opponent.
Temrezov jumps guard but Adaev stands there with Temrezov around his waist. Temrezov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Adaev wants to break free but Temrezov has control.

As Adaev backs off Temrezov throws a huge counter combo but Adaev manages to avoid it all.

and Adaev holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Adaev is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Temrezov can do to turn this around?

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Temrezov would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Adaev looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Temrezov looking to sit in guard and control but Adaev gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Adaev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Temrezov on the ground.

Adaev keeps the fight on the outside.
Adaev stuffs the takedown attempt from Temrezov. Temrezov gets slowly back to his feet.
Temrezov throws a head kick but Adaev moves out of range.
Nice uppercut lands for Adaev. That snapped Temrezov's head back.

Temrezov gets a clinch.
Adaev looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Adaev digs a right hand into Temrezov's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Temrezov's gas tank.
Temrezov tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Adaev jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Temrezov walks away with a smile on his face. Adaev gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Temrezov blocks the body kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Temrezov can't break the clinch.
Adaev wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Temrezov has him pressed against the cage.

Temrezov controls Adaev momentarily but Adaev frees himself.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Temrezov can do anything to dispel that myth.
Adaev content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Adaev trying to control but Temrezov is working from the bottom.
Adaev with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Temrezov will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Adaev is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

A lull in the action here.
Temrezov takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Temrezov sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Adaev is taking a breather. Temrezov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Temrezov has hold of Adaev's hands but Adaev slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Amirkhan Adaev.
Well Adaev has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
